From June 30 to July 3, 2025, the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at the University of Ljubljana (UL FKKT) hosted the 30th edition of the international conference YISAC 2025 (Young Investigators’ Seminar on Analytical Chemistry). The event was organized in collaboration with the National Institute of Chemistry (KI), continuing its tradition as a platform for master’s and doctoral students in analytical chemistry to present their research.
The conference opened with welcoming addresses by Prof. Dr. Mitja Kolar (UL FKKT) and Dr. Samo Hočevar (KI). Additional opening remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Andreja Žgajnar Gotvajn, Dean of UL FKKT, as well as the founders of YISAC conference, Dr. Božidar Ogorevc (KI) and Prof. Dr. Kurt Kalcher (University of Graz, Austria).
This year’s scientific program featured 42 participants from 6 countries and 14 institutions, supported by the guidance of 24 expert mentors. A member of our HSLL group, Emma Paolin, received the first-place award for best oral presentation with a talk titled “Application of a multidisciplinary approach combining sensory and TD-GC-MS-O analysis for the characterization of VOCs emitted by ancient Egyptian mummified bodies”.
