The GreenHer Centre of Excellence is being established as the first Slovenian centre dedicated to interdisciplinary research in green heritage science within a collaborative European partnership. It is also the first Slovenian centre created under the EU’s highly competitive Teaming for Excellence programme.

The new Centre will bring together an interdisciplinary community of researchers from the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and technical disciplines to advance sustainable cultural heritage management. It aims to become a leading hub for research and innovation in heritage science.

The Centre will establish new and refurbish existing research facilities at several partner locations, train PhD students, and form research programme groups in four main areas: Green Heritage Conservation, Sustainable Buildings and Sites, Values and Participatory Research, and Digital Heritage.

The GreenHer Centre of Excellence will strengthen Slovenian and regional capacities in heritage science and contribute to the green and digital transition of the heritage sector.

The development of the Centre is led by Professor Dr. Matija Strlič and brings together numerous Slovenian partners: University of Ljubljana, University of Primorska, University of Maribor, National and University Library of Slovenia, Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, Slovenian National Building And Civil Engineering Institute, as well as international partners Centro Nazionale delle Ricerche and UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage.

In this excellent partnership, the funding proposal was developed with coordination by the Heritage Science Lab Ljubljana and we are absolutely looking forward to future successes.
