The Chemistry for Cultural Heritage Working Party of the EuChemS (European Chemical Society) is delighted to announce the 8th Conference on Chemistry for Cultural Heritage to be held in Bled, Slovenia, from 8-11 June 2026!

The ChemCH conference series has been organised biannually since 2010 by the EuChemS Working Party on Chemistry for Cultural Heritage. With the overarching theme of Chemistry for Cultural Heritage, the conference promotes chemical sciences in the understanding, conservation and use of cultural heritage, which includes all typologies of heritage: objects, buildings, landscapes etc. The main objective of ChemCH is to advance understanding of the materiality of cultural heritage, its environment and use. Advances in research methodologies, analytical instrumentation and contemporary computational approaches have significantly improved our ability to understand the properties and composition of heritage and archaeological materials, how they respond to their environment or treatments, and their long-term degradation processes. Equally important is the interpretation and visualisation of data using data-intensive approaches and AI. Chemistry for Cultural Heritage strongly promotes interdisciplinary research informed and guided by the needs of the heritage sector.

The breadth of conference topics is available on the conference website: https://chemch2026.fkkt.uni-lj.si/

ChemCH 2026 is organised by the Centre of Excellence GreenHer, with the support of the  University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology (UL FKKT) and the Slovenian node of the European Infrastructure of Heritage Science (E-RIHS.si), and under the patronage of the UNESCO National Commission.
