Multivariate Data Analysis for Heritage Science Course at HSLL

Heritage Science Lab Ljubljana was pleased to welcome Prof Dr Tom Fearn giving an advanced training course in mutivariate data analysis. Focussing specifically on examples of heritage science data, Prof Fearn focused on data analysis methods that enable researchers to visualise data, explore patterns, develop and test hypotheses, working with typical spectral and chromatographic data sets, focussing on practical heritage science examples.

Tom Fearn is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Statistical Science at UCL. He was previously Head of Department from 2002-2007 and again from 2011-2016. He has a BA in Mathematics from Oxford, an MSc in Statistics from Imperial College and a PhD in Statistics from UCL.

 The 4-day course was attended by PhD students and early career researchers from the University of Ljubljana (Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Biotechnical Faculty and Faculty of Arts) as well as from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage.
